January 31, 2008: Adler Planetarium showcases Mercury photos from NASAAs high-resolution digital imagery captured by sky surveys and
satellite missions continue to build bigger and better maps of our
galaxy, the Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum has taking a modern
approach to high-tech exhibit development. Its Space Visualization
Laboratory (SVL) is a working laboratory on the main exhibit floor
that features a variety of scientific visualization applications and
display technologies many of which came out of the University of
Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Electronic Visualization Laboratory (EVL).
In a January 31, 2008 article in the CHICAGO TRIBUNE, Adler treats its
visitors to the newest high-resolution images of the planet Mercury
snapped by the space probe MESSENGER, displayed on EVL-developed tiled
display walls.
