August 17, 2009: Davide Fossati wins a Computing Innovation fellowshipDavide Fossati has won a "Computing Innovation Fellowship"
(
http://cifellows.org), a postdoctoral fellowship program developed by
the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) and the Computing Research
Association (CRA), with funding from the National Science Foundation.
He will spend the 2009-10 academic year at GeorgiaTech, working on
educational technology to support formative assessment in Computer
Science education. His mentor at GeorgiaTech will be Mark Guzdial.
The fellowship was very competitive, with only 5% success rate
among international students (11.4% overall).
Davide Fossati is a former member of the Natural Language Processing
laboratory at UIC. He defended his PhD thesis on "Automatic Modeling
of Procedural Knowledge and Feedback Generation in a Tutoring System
for Computer Science" last June.
