Menaging maling lists
This is a list of the mailinglist available in the lab:
-
nlpday@piemonte.cs.uic.edu: it is used by Barbara for nlpday regarding
message. The file with all the addresses belonging to the mailing list is /etc/mail/mailinglist/nlpday.lis;
-
lab@piemonte.cs.uic.edu: is used to send message to all the user of the
lab. The file with all the addresses is /etc/mail/mailinglist/lab.lis:
In general a mailing list is created by adding an entry in the file /etc/mail/aliases
in the machine that will hold the list. An entry should be something like:
lab: :include:/etc/mail/mailinglist/lab.lis
where the first entry (lab:) indicates the name of the
mailing list, while the second entry indicates the addresses belonging to the
mailing list. To separate the definition of the mailing list itself and the
list of address usually we write this list in a separate file and we include it
with the clause:include:.
For further information see the manpage of sendmail.
