Biographical sketch:
I defended my PhD sucesfully on October 4th 2013. I was a PhD candidate and a Fulbright Fellow in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). I worked under the supervision of
Professor Ouri Wolfson and
Professor Philip Yu . Previously, I was also a research associate of the
BITS Lab headed by Professor Jakob Erikkson at the Chicago campus of the University of Illinois.
My PhD research was in two folds: (1) Context detection from mobile phone sensors which detects human activities from smartphones (2) Privacy-aware location based services. For my study at University of Illinois Chicago, I was awarded the
Fulbright Fellowship by the United States Department of State. Before joinging UIC I was a student at the University of Westminster in London (Harrow Campus), here I studied for an MSc. For my study at the University of Westminster London I was awarded the European Union Fellowship.
I spent most of my early days in Jamaica where I did the BSc at the University of Technology (Kingston campus).
Currently, I am a full-time research scientist in the Connected Driving Division of Nokia (Chicago). My research roles are centered around (1) Traffic and Dynamic content, (2) Automtive experiences, software, & map updates, (3) Telematics sensor analytics, and (4) Autonomous driving and automotive cloud.
Previously at Nokia (Chicago) I worked on the real time transit project where we automated ways using supervised and unsupervised machine learning schemes to derive transit systems (routes, stops, schedules) from GPS traces obtained from traveler's mobile phones or automatic vehicle locators. Other components of real time transit that we are currently involved in are bus bunching, transit arrival time prediction, real time routing, and spatial and temporal deviation detection and prediction.Several patents and papers have been published based on this project.
