Computer Science Professor and Wexler Chair in Information Technology Philip Yu is one of the recipients of the 2013 IEEE Computer Society Technical Achievement Award:
"For pioneering and fundamentally innovative contributions to the scalable indexing, querying, searching, mining and anonymization of big data."

This is a major award, given for outstanding and innovative contributions to the fields of computer and information science and engineering or computer technology, usually within the past 10, and not more than 15, years. Contributions must have significantly promoted technical progress in the field.
