June 27, 2013: UIC College of Engineering Dean and Computer Science Professor Peter Nelson and his team have receives a $368,000 Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) grant to expand the Gateway Traveler Information System

UIC College of Engineering Dean and Computer Science Professor Peter Nelson and his team, including Dr. John Dillenburg, have received a $368,000 Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) grant to expand the Gateway Traveler Information System and the TravelMidwest.com website coverage from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Port Huron, Michigan. It is part of the FHWA's Multistate Corridor Operations and Management program . This is a collaborative effort involving transportation agencies in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Michigan. (UIC's funding is formally a subaward from University of Wisconsin).

The Illinois Department of Transportation is also providing $92,000 in matching funds to the University as part of this grant.
