May 7, 2006: 2006 UIC Teaching Recognition Awards for Professors Ugo Buy and Pat Troy

We are pleased to announce that our colleagues Ugo Buy and Pat Troy have recently been selected for 2006 Teaching Recognition

Program Awards from UIC's Council for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. A maximum of 20 UIC faculty per year receive this

award, so we are very honored to have two CS faculty be recognized with this award in one year.

In 1993 Professor Buy received a Best Advisors Award. Professor Buy was the recipient of the Harold A. Simon Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1995. This award is given annually to one faculty member in the College of Engineering. In 2005 Professor Buy was selected as the College of Engineering's nominee for the UIC Award for Excellence in Teaching and was one of four campus recipients for this award.

Professor Troy outstanding record of awards includes winning four UIC Silver Circle Awards for Excellence in Teaching (1992,

1995, 1998, and 2001), the Best Advisor Award from the Professional Engineering Societies Council in 1996 and the Harold A. Simon Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2005.
