October 31, 2007: UIC ACM to Host Regional Programming Contest

This Saturday, the UIC chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) will host a regional qualifier for the 2007 International Collegiate Programming Contest. Three teams from UIC will do battle in a Computer Science lab located in the Science and Engineering Laboratories building against visiting teams from University of Chicago, DePaul, IIT, Loyola, Northwestern and Wheaton College, as well as online against other teams in the Midwest Central region. The teams will race to complete a number of intense computer science problems as quickly as possible, with the team that completes the most problems correctly, in the amount of time provided will advance to the world finals - this year held in Alberta, Canada.

This competition is sponsored by IBM, and additional details can be found at the site set up for the regional qualifier hosted at UIC: http://www.cs.uic.edu/~mcpc, as well a UIC News article on the event: UIC to host 'battle of the brains' competition
