August 29, 2011: CS PhD student, Anushka Anand, joins Anita Borg Institute Board of Trustees

Anushka Anand, Computer Science PhD student, has been invited to join the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology's Board of Trustees as a student member.

Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology is a non-profit organization that works with industry and academia to recruit, retain, and advance technical women. ??One of its best know programs is the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing.

The board is a very distinguished group of Industry and Academic leaders and it influences the Institute's direction, policy, and programs. A few years ago, the board members decided to ask students to join the board. Students serve for a year and Anushka has been invited for the term starting November 2011 (at the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing).

Anushka Anand is working on her PhD in ?"Graph-theoretic Scagnostics" with Dr. Leland Wilkinson as her advisor. Anushka is ?the current Chair of the Chicago Chapter of the ACM and the past president of the Computer Science Graduate Student Association and ?the Women in Computer Science group. Anushka was also the Secretary of the Graduate Student Council which is the graduate student government @ UIC. Anushka has received numerous awards for her leadership and service to the UIC community.
