September 26, 2013: The largest UIC team in history will be attending the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing this fall

The largest UIC team in history is going to the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing this fall. The Grace Hopper Celebration is the world?s largest gathering of technical women in computing. It is the place where technical women gather to network, find or be mentors, create collaborative proposals, and increase the visibility of women?s contributions to computing. This year it will be in Minneapolis, October 2-5, 2013.

According to preliminary statistics from Grace Hopper, the 29 UIC attendees will be the second-largest university group there (after Stanford). This large UIC group?s attendance has been made possible by the generous support from the Department of Computer Science, the College of Engineering, the Honors College, donors to UIC, and Microsoft Research. This is the eighth consecutive year UIC is sending a team to Grace Hopper and we hope to continue this tradition. We are looking forward to the experiences, lessons, impressions, connection, and excitement the team will bring back. We are proud to be a part of the global community of Women in Computing and to support women in computing at UIC.
