March 28, 2014: PhD student Ivan Brugere receives Google Lime Scholarship

Computer Science PhD student Ivan Brugere has been selected as a 2014 Google Lime Scholar.

Google Lime scholarship supports outstanding students with disabilities in computer science. Recipients of the 2014 Google Lime Scholarship will each receive a scholarship for the 2014-2015 academic year. The selected students (Ivan including) will also be invited to attend the annual Google Scholars' Retreat at the Googleplex in Mountain View, California, in 2014. Candidates will also be considered for software engineering internship opportunities with Google. Scholarships are awarded based on the strength of candidates' academic background and demonstrated passion for computer science.

Ivan's research is on spatio-temporal social network analysis and the related surveillance and privacy concerns of fine-grained location-based services. He is a ESP-IGERT associate and a member of the Computational Population Biology Lab at UIC.
