November 2, 2015: UIC CS Undergrad David Labak wins Civic Tech Challenge at Think Chicago

The recent Think Chicago conference held a Civic Tech Challenge where teams were required to come up with an idea that would help the city of Chicago / community, and then pitch this idea to 3 venture capitalists. Each group had 3 minutes to give their pitch, and one group was chosen as the winner based on their pitch.

CS Undergraduate David Labak and his team won the competition, with their proposal for Graffiti Graph.

Graffiti Graph is an app that allows the city of Chicago to maintain an up to date database of graffiti in order to better analyze gang activity and develop better strategies for clean up. The user would open the app and take a picture of the graffiti. The app would then send this picture along with the user's location to some central location.
