A high-power access point mounted at a high location would naturally suffer from an intense hidden terminal problem: it can see clients far and wide, but the clients can only see the AP, and not each other. How do we ensure that client transmissions do not collide?

One promising idea is loose channel reservation. Split time into fixed-size slots. A node that has a successful transmission schedules the next transmission a fixed number /S/ of non-AP-occupied slots later. The number /S/ could be determined based on the number of unique MAC addresses observed + some number of empty holes for incoming users.
