Christopher B. Burke, PhD, PE, D.WRE, Dist. M.ASCE was awarded the Distinguished Member of American Society of Civil Engineers.

Burke received the award at the ASCE’s 143rd Annual Civil Engineering Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Distinguished membership is reserved for members of the Society who have attained the grade of Member of Fellow and who demonstrate acknowledged eminence in some branch of engineering or in its related arts and sciences.

Burke is one of only 626 other engineers in ASCE’s 161-year history to receive this distinction.

“It is an honor to be recognized by this esteemed group of engineers,” Burke said. “I not only have the privilege of working in this great field but also teaching engineering students and advising my own staff. I am grateful to receive an award for a profession I feel so strongly about.”

The 2013 conference featured keynote speaker, Ali Velshi, as well as an Industry Leaders Forum and a Distinguished Lecture Series. ASCE inducted the 2013 class of Distinguished Members at the Celebration of Leaders Luncheon.
