UIC is strategically located in Chicago's Near West Side. Convenient access to both city and suburbs is provided by excellent public transportation as well as by all major expressways. UIC also operates a shuttle bus service for those riding the suburban commuter trains.

By Car
UIC is just west of the junction of three major expressways - Eisenhower (I-290).
Kennedy (I-90/94), and Dan Ryan (I-90/94) east) - and several exits provide access to
the campus. City streets entering the campus include Ashland, Damen, Halsted.
Harrison, Morgan, Racine, Roosevelt, and Taylor. From Downstate, both I-55 and I-57
feed into northwestbound I-90/94.

By Public Transportation
UIC is served by O'Hare/Congress/Douglas (U of I/Halsted stop) rapid transit trains and
several bus lines including No. 60 Blue Island-26th Street, No. 8 Halsted Street, No. 9
Ashland Avenue, No. 7 Harrison Street, No. 12 Roosevelt Road, No. 126 Jackson, and

By Commuter Train
Downtown terminals - Northwestern and Union stations - are linked to the southbound
No. 60 bus on Clinton Avenue. From the Rock Island and Illinois Central terminals take
the southwestbound O'Hare/Congress/Douglas rapid transit.
