CS 499 - Professional Development Seminar

Talk/Presentation Critiques

For part of your grade in CS 499, you will need to attend 3 CS related talks/presentation and write a short summary on each one.

The write-up need to contain at least 3 sections:

1. The talk information include time, date, and location of the talk. This section must also include who the presenter is (i.e. presenter's information/bio), the title of the talk with some information from the talk's abstract or publicity information. This section should also explain how this talk is CS-related. Some talks will be very obvious how they are CS-related, but you still need to include this information

2. The talk contents as you understood it. Explain in your own words what was presented.

3. A critique on the talk. Was is interesting, useful, enjoyable, worth your time? What did you learn from the talk? What ideas did you take away from the talk?

These talks can be done at any time during the semester BEFORE the 15th week! So start early and don't wait until the last minute because there may not be scheduled talks at that time.

The summaries are to be submitted in PDF format into Blackboard using the assignment links on the Content Page for CS 499.

To get an idea of up coming talks, check out the Faculty Calendar page at: http://www.cs.uic.edu/bin/view/Main/FacultyCalendar
