Staying career-minded while in school
If you plan on leaving the university setting after graduation to start your career it’s important to stay career-minded while in school. Dean Nelson recommends completing at least two internships before graduation for undergraduate students. Internship experience while in school gives you a competitive edge in securing full-time employment upon graduation.
The Engineering Career Center can help you with everything from polishing off your resume to negotiating a salary. Their website has all of the resource you need to secure internships while in school and full-time employment upon graduation.
You can upload your resume to UICcareers and search/apply to internships, co-ops and jobs posted by employers looking for UIC students. You can even set up job alerts. Create your profile and keep it updated for employers to review.
