Olympic Games originated in ancient Greece were held from 776 B.C. to A.D.393. Athletes from all Greek city-states joined the festivalsat Olympia. The modern games began in 1896, with 13 countries and 311 athletes taking part in the competition for encouring the world peace and friendship.
