Semantic Data Integration and Interoperation
- Developed a layered model for data interoperation on the Semantic Web, and designed an ontology-based architecture for the implementation of its semantic layer, which is centric to the resolution of data source heterogeneities. Our solution supports the integration and interoperation of relational databases, XML documents, and RDF data.
- Proposed an ontology-based approach for the integration of XML sources that represent the same conceptual model using different schemas. Studied how to apply the proposed ontology-based approach to a hybrid peer-to-peer (P2P) data management framework, namely PEPSINT.
- Studied the problem of schema (or ontology) mapping in both central and P2P settings, and particularly the issues such as schema matching, mapping representation, and the use of mappings for query answering. Proposed a thesaurus-based schema matching method, a mapping language using a meta-ontology RDFMS (RDF Mapping Schema) for mapping representation, and a P2P query translation procedure.
