Abstract

One of the most active areas in database research has been the design of data models and query languages for the efficient retrieval of data. Multimedia/hypermedia pose new and challenging problems to database research. Some of the new research topics are related to: The papers of this session cover some of these important issues: An overview of these and other issues will be given in this short talk. Our emphasis will be on declarative and visual query languages for multimedia/hypermedia.
