Intent or Intention Mining
Mining Various Types of Intents Expressed in Social Media Posts
Textbook:
"Sentiment Analysis: mining sentiments, opinions, and emotions."
by Bing Liu, 2015.
- Chapter 11 of the book focuses on intent mining, which is closely related to sentiment.
Definition: Intent or intention has two main meanings or senses:
- A course of action that a person or a group of persons intends to follow.
- The goal or purpose behind a specific action or set of actions.
The aim of this project is to mine different intents or intentions from social media posts based on the text content of the posts. There is a slight difference in meaning between intent and intention, but for our practical mining purpose, they are interchangeable.
