Extension on Project 2

Because the CS department machines have been up and down and many of you lost your opportunity to work on the assignment during the weekend, I am extending the deadline for the current program from this Tuesday night until this Friday at noon.

Extension on Prgoram 1 due to system outage

The CS department machines were down for a generous 39 hours, from 10:13 p.m. Sat. night, Sept. 14, until about 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.

I will therefore extend the due date for Program 1 by 39.5 hours, from 10:00 p.m. Tuesday night until 1:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

Notes: I will still be giving out the next program on Wednesday afternoon. I will be VERY hostile to any further extensions of the deadline.

Program 1, Prof. Office Hours for it

The due date of program 1 is being moved back from the handout. It will now be Tuesday, September 17, 2002. However, office hour assistance will not really be available after Friday, September 13.

Clarification: The BOOKS command should print out all books in alphabetical order by author, with ties (same author) broken by title. Simplification over the real world: you can use the whole title. That is, you can decide that among books by Stroustrup, that "C++" comes before "The Annotated C++ Reference Manual", because C comes before T.

DELETE should delete all books by that author.

This week only: Professor office hours Friday, September 13, 10-12 and then professor office hours cancelled Monday, September 16.
