IT 202 - Web and Multimedia Technology

Fall 2007

Lab 6

Due: Thursday 10/11/2007 by 11:59 pm.

The lab for this week has a few parts.

  1. Set up a Static IP Address on your machine and network it to other machines in the lab. There are yellow slips with IP addressed in the lab. Use these slips to get a unique address for your machine. THe addresses start with 192.168.1.X, where the X changes to give everyone a unique number.

For some ideas on how to do this check out:

Note: the spacing on the 5 lines after the "iface" line in the interfaces file appears to be significant. I used about 6 space characters and that worked. Others had troubled if no spaced were used (as the first article/link shows) or if a tab was used.

  2. Use the ALIAS directive to set up a web page (or a web directory) that is not under the directory space indicated by DocumentRoot.

  3. Set up a symbolic link to set up a web page (or a web directory) that is not under the directory space indicated by DocumentRoot.
