CS 100 - Computer Literacy, Spring 2005

Homework 1 - Create your own home page

Due Date: Wednesday 2/16/2005 at 11:59 pm

There are no constraints here: your network identity is in your own hands. Once you create your home page, the web will automatically make it available to the world. You are free to look as brilliant (or stupid) as you choose. Needless to say, however, you must steer clear of obscenity, slander, copyright violation, and the like. (See the ACCC Computer Usage Policy statement for more information).

Your page must contain the following (you may do more than this):

  1. a title (preferably your name)
  2. your name somewhere in the body of the page
  3. your net-id
  4. the day and time of your lab
  5. two paragraphs about yourself (where you're from, what you're interested in, etc.). Remember a paragraph is a collection of multiple sentences.
  6. a picture created by you (you can scan it in - there is a scanner in the ACCC computer lab in SSB 2300). A good idea is to put a picture of yourself on your homepage.
  7. another picture, grabbed from somewhere on the web, with a link to the page that you grabbed it from. Be sure to state the web site were you got this picture from, otherwise you could be accused of plagerism. These pictures should not be modified and do NOT grab copyrighted images. Royalty-free images can be obtained from web as well.
  8. a link back to the CS 100 home page.
  9. at least three additional links to other Web pages on the Internet reflecting your interests

This page is to be done on the CS 100 swiki. On the page that you created for lab 3, you may either add the information needed for this assignment or add a link to a new page which contains the information needed for this assignment. Perhaps the better alternative is to create a new page and place a link on the page created for lab 3. If you did not do lab 3, do it to begin this assignment.

Grading is straighforward. It will be out of a maximum of 100 points.

One or more misspelled words will also cost you five points. If your page is not accessible, you will receive zero (0) points for the assignment. Remember: we will not accept late assignments.

Since this assignment will be done on the swiki, the TA will check the time it was last edited to determine when it was submitted.
