The DBMC laboratory is located at the University of Illinois at Chicago, the largest university in the Chicago area. It is one of the laboratories in the Department of Computer Science.

The laboratory is engaged in advanced research in various aspects of databases and mobile computing, most of which are closely connected with industry. The projects currently undertaken by the lab are active databases, moving objects databases, adaptive replication, and semantic multicast. The laboratory is led by Ouri Wolfson. It has collaborative relationships with universities and research institutions in the U.S. and throughout the world, including Army Research Labs, Hughes Research Labs, University of California at Los Angeles, Advanced Technology Lab at Lockheed Martin Co, Center of Excellence in Space Data and Information Sciences at NASA, University of Maryland, University of Central Venezuela, Athens University of Economics & Business.
