The ADVIS Lab
in the Department of Computer Science at the University of
Illinois at Chicago (UIC), led by Professor Isabel Cruz, anticipates the availability
of a Postdoctoral Research Associate position to start as early as May 15, 2009. This position is subject to approval
by the university. The initial appointment is expected to be for one year and may be renewed.
Candidates should have a PhD in Computer Science or complete all degree requirements by the beginning of their
appointment. Candidates should have a strong research record in data management or semantic web with publications
in highly competitive venues.
Applications should be submitted online and should include a curriculum vita,
at least three letters of recommendation, and a brief summary of research. For full consideration, applications
should be received by April 27, 2009. However, applications will be reviewed until the position is filled.
The Department of Computer Science, which belongs to the College of Engineering, has 27 tenure and tenure-track
faculty members, including a highly visible data management research group. UIC is the largest
public research university in the metropolitan Chicago area, a major national and international hub for diverse
economic and cultural activities also known for its architectural beauty. The UIC campus is located just west of
downtown Chicago.
