Date Topic Description Reading
2021-08-24 2021-08-26 Logistics + Introduction to Provenance & Explanations We will discuss the logistics of the course and will gain a basic understanding of what provenance and explanations are and what they are used for. Furthermore, we will cover the generic W3C Prov model for provenance, learn about basic requirements for fine-grained provenance, and cover basics about intervention-based techniques for explanations (and provenance.

2021-09-14 2021-09-16 Hypothetical Reasoning: What-If and How-To We will learn about hypothetical reasoning. In what-if analysis we postulate some hypothetical change to the input of a computation and want to understand how this change effects the output of the computation. In How-to analysis we want to achieve a particular change to the output of a computation and want to find a change to the computation's input that results in the desired outcome.
